Storm Season Starts Before the Warning
A wind-rated door only performs if its tracks, anchors and hardware are intact. We repair the parts that make the rating real, before a storm tests them.

The Door Is Rated. The Installation Has to Match.
A garage door carries a wind rating only as part of a complete assembly: the door sections, the reinforced tracks, the jamb brackets, the anchoring into the framing and the header bracing. Take any one of those away and the rating on the label means nothing. Loose lag bolts, a track that has been tapped by a car, corroded brackets or a door that has stopped closing square all reduce how the assembly behaves under pressure. That is what we inspect and repair. If your door is not currently rated for wind, we can also fit a bracing and anchoring system that meets Florida building code for this area, or replace the door with a wind-rated one when that is the sensible answer.
The garage door is the largest opening in most houses, and in a storm it is the one that lets the pressure in. Homes throughout Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach and Aventura take the coastal side of that risk, and communities further inland in Weston, Pembroke Pines and Plantation still have to meet the same code requirements. A door that is out of balance is a real problem in storm season, because it will not seal or latch evenly against the opening. So our storm preparation visit covers the balance and seal as well as the rated hardware. We check every anchor, verify the tracks are true and properly secured, confirm the door sits square, look at the bottom seal and the side weatherstripping, and make sure the opener will not be left holding the door mid-travel when the power goes out. Book it before the season, not during a watch.
Code-Oriented Work, Explained Plainly
We will tell you exactly what we found, what meets Florida building code for this area and what does not. Where reinforcement or bracing is needed, you get a flat-rate price before we begin. We do not make storm-scare sales โ we repair what is genuinely weak.
Why This Works Better
Anchors and Bracing Repaired
Loose or undersized anchors into the jamb and header are corrected, and bracing is fitted where the opening calls for it.
Reinforced Tracks Verified
Tracks must be true and properly fastened to do their job in wind. We straighten, re-anchor or replace what will not hold.
Glazing and Seals Checked
Any glass in the door is checked for damage, and bottom and side seals are repaired so the door closes against the opening as designed.
Three Steps Start to Finish
Book Before the Season
Storm preparation is easiest in the months before a warning is issued, when parts and appointments are available. Call (786) 671-4001 to schedule.
Full Hardware Inspection
We inspect tracks, brackets, hinges, anchors, bracing, springs, cables and the seal, and check that the door is balanced and closes square.
Reinforce, Repair, Verify
Weak points are repaired or reinforced, the door is rebalanced and tested, and you get a clear account of what state the door is in.
Hurricane Rated Door Repair in the Field
Hurricane Rated Door Repair FAQs
How do I know if my garage door is hurricane rated?
There is usually a label or a stamp on the door sections or on the tracks, and the rating only applies when the door is installed with the specified hardware. If you cannot find it, call (786) 671-4001 and we will look at the assembly and tell you what you have.
Can an old door be made storm ready?
Often it can be reinforced with proper bracing and anchoring that meets Florida building code for this area. If the door sections themselves are too weak or too corroded, reinforcement is not the right answer and we will say so.
Does a new roof or window change my garage door requirement?
Your garage door is part of the building envelope, so it has to work with the rest of it. Requirements are set by code for the area rather than by individual upgrades. If you have questions after other work was done, we can check the door assembly.
What is the difference between impact glass and a wind rating?
A wind-rated door is built and anchored to resist wind pressure. Impact glass doors use laminated glazing that resists impact from debris as well. Many coastal homes need both properties, and we install doors that provide them.
My door does not close all the way any more. Does that matter in a storm?
It matters a great deal. A door that will not seal squarely cannot perform the way it was designed to against wind and driven rain, and it is usually a sign of a balance or track problem that should be repaired. Call (786) 671-4001.
